In Local mode the AI models run on your machine, so there is no journey to describe: files, vectors, and searches all stay on your device. Below is the exact journey a file takes in Cloud mode, start to finish. No copies kept, no library held hostage in someone else's cloud.

Step 2: Indexed, then deleted
Neither the file nor its vector is kept
Indexing turns each file into a compact semantic vector and streams it back to your app. The uploaded file and the vector are then deleted from our servers; nothing about your content is stored there.
Step 3: Stored on your device
Your index lives only with you
The only copy of the searchable index is on your machine. Every search you run afterwards works from that device-side index and never touches your files again.

Not if you use Local mode: the AI models run on your own machine, so files, vectors, and searches never leave your device. In Cloud mode, files are uploaded once to our secure servers for indexing; the resulting semantic vector is streamed back to your app, and immediately after that both the uploaded file and the vector are deleted from our servers. Either way, the only copy of your index lives on your device. We do keep billing records (file name, size or duration, and cost) so your usage can be shown in your account.
Local mode runs the AI models on your own machine: completely private, no uploads, and searches answer in about 0.05 seconds. Cloud mode offloads the indexing work to our servers, which is the faster way to index very large libraries and works on any hardware. You can switch between them in the app; both store the index only on your device.
A GPU with roughly 4-6 GB of VRAM, or any Apple Silicon Mac. Most computers from the last few years qualify. If your machine can't run it, Cloud mode does the heavy lifting on our servers instead.

Spotlight and Windows Search look at filenames and limited metadata. Vextore searches both the filename and what's actually inside the file, so you can describe a photo without knowing its filename, or find a video moment without knowing the timestamp, and still get the right result.
